Each year residents are invited to tell our Police what they think their priorities should be for our area and at the time of the last survey the following were highlighted:-

  • Thefts from sheds & outbuildings
  • Anti – Social Behaviour
  • Speeding

The Police are now once again asking for our priorities, so if you want to express your view please contact basingstoke.rural.snt@hampshire.pnn.police.uk using the form below. The police have recently written to every person who had a theft from a shed during 2010 as offenders often return the same place some time later to target the replacement machinery.

In order to tackle speeding the police intend to set up SpeedWatch schemes, which can only operate on roads with a speed limit of 30 mph and under. Community volunteers work alongside Hampshire Constabulary officers to identify vehicles exceeding the speed limit with the details being entered onto a database. The registered owner of the vehicle will then be sent a letter telling them that their vehicle was seen exceeding the speed limit. If the same registration number is logged again within 12 months the owner will receive a warning that if the vehicle is seen speeding a third time, the details will be passed to an officer who may take further action. If you would like to be involved please contact policing.management@hampshire.pnn.police.uk.
