Action we have taken in relation to your priorities
Prevent thefts from garages, sheds and outbuildings(including theft of metal)
During April there were 2 reported thefts from garages & Sheds.
- Between 14th-18th a Quad bike was stolen from a barn in Deadmoor Lane (off the Newtown straight).
- Between 23rd-25th a garage in Penwood Heights was broken into and had small tools stolen.
We have recently seen an increase in thefts from properties whose gardens back onto the Great Pen wood in Penwood Heights and surrounding area
Please ensure that garages and sheds are locked, and that items are not left outside overnight. Please also ensure that cars are locked with valuables such as Ipods & Sat Navs removed.
There are various shed alarms available which are as little as £10- £20 including motion sensors or padlocks with an alarm. Most alarms require no wiring and can be purchased from most DIY stores.
Reduce anti-social behaviour especially around Bishops Green
With the recent improvement in the weather and the sun finally shining we are keen to act on all reports of Anti-Social behaviour to ensure that we continue with low levels over the summer months.
Please report any of this behaviour “in progress” to the Police switchboard on 0845 045 45 45 or 101 If the incident has passed we would still like to hear about it for information and can be reported by phone or email.
We recently targeted Anti-social riding of mopeds in Bishops Green. Please advise us if the problem returns
Reduce speeding across the beat
Police presence has continued on A343 at Highclere to prevent and deter dangerous driving.
We are currently attending the Parish Annual Assemblies and discussing “Community Speedwatch”
At the request of Ecchinswell Parish Council we will soon be enforcing the speed limit on the entrance to Ecchinswell from Brocks Green at rush hour time
Other incidents of note
A male in Penwood was found in possession of Drugs
A parasol was stolen from a garden in Harwood Rise, Woolton Hill
A car in Tubbs Lane, Highclere had a window smashed (nothing stolen)
2 catalytic convertors were stolen from a vehicles parked near Tothill Services
A car in Broadlayings had an ipod, Sat Nav and Tool bag stolen
A car in Fox’s Lane, Penwood had keys and a wallet stolen
A car in Penwood Heights had an ipod stolen
The Bishops Green building site has had electrical cable stolen. This is believed to have been stolen for the copper element.
2 males from Bishops Green have been arrested for damage to an excavator
We have recently been asking Parish Councils and local residents to vote on what you would like the community priorities to be for the next year.
The priorities have been confirmed as the same as last year with the inclusion of theft of scrap metal
