Action we have taken in relation to your priorities
Prevent thefts from garages, sheds and outbuildings(including theft of metal)
Since the recent positive action and arrests there has been a decrease in thefts from outbuildings:
  • The Church at Burghclere was forced open and cash stolen from the safe
  • A lawn mower and some batteries have been stolen from a Farm in Ecchinswell
  • Lead flashing stolen from the village hall in Ecchinswell

Positive Action
Operation Chord is now active and being run in your area over the next few weeks.
This operation is targeting criminal activity at night and will see a high number of vehicles being stopped by the police.
Please be patient if you are stopped whilst driving during the evening.

Reduce anti-social behaviour especially around Bishops Green
We have received various complaints about nuisance 2 mini motorcycles in Bishops Green.
The owners of these motorcycles have been identified & issued warnings by the Police and Housing associations which has reduced the problem.

PLEASE ADVISE US IF THESE ARE SEEN BEING RIDDEN AGAIN
Since the NHW schemes have been set up in Bishops Green we have seen a reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour and would like to thank
all the residents who have supported this scheme.

Reduce speeding across the beat
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit have been carrying out speed enforcement on A343 at Highclere.
Speed enforcement vans are now being used on the A343 and we would like to hear from any residents who live on A343 who would be happy for us to use their
drive to park a vehicle and carried out speed enforcement.  We currently use 2 sites but are keen to use different locations.
Please let us know if you can help !

Taking uninsured drivers off the road
2 Vehicles have been seized for being driven with no insurance
Drivers who are found driving without current insurance are fined £200 – 6 Points on licence and the vehicle seized.  This costs £150 to release the vehicle plus
£20 per day storage ! (as long as you have obtained insurance of course!)
If you have not paid these within 14 days then the car is crushed !

Other incidents of note
A house in Church Lane, Highclere had a door forced open and items stolen during the daytime
A house in Pantings Lane, Highclere had a door forced open and jewellery Stolen during the day
Please ensure that your house is left secure when unoccupied during the day. Windows should be closed, doors double locked or “deadlocked”
and consideration given to replacing old doors with modern multi-point locks. (please contact us if you would like some advice)

A male from Woolton Hill has been charged with offences including Handling Stolen Goods and drugs offences
A battery was stolen from a car in Highclere

As ever please continue to be vigilant and report any suspicious vehicles or persons seen.
We would like to thank all residents who have taken the time to report suspicious incidents this month. We appreciate your support in helping us to tackle local crime.

Please contact us if you have any questions
