The Society’s Curry & Quiz evening, which was our first major social event was a sell-out and proved to be a great success with very positive feedback. The curry was provided by the Indian Kitchen ladies who have a stall at the Woolton Hill Village Market.

The bike ride on the 14th May attracted a good turn out with many riders now using the newly discovered routes for their own leisure activities.

The next bike ride is on Saturday the 25th June at 10.15 starting at Woolton Hill Church Hall. It will be over a distance of 18 miles – mainly off road (12 miles before pub, 6 miles after) with an approximate route through Penwood, Old Burghclere, Sydmonton, Nuthanger Down, along the Wayfarers Way to the DeHaviland Memorial via Ladle Hill and on to Ashmansworth, stopping in the Jack Russell Inn (approx midday) before returning to the Church Hall via Hollington Lane and Highclere.  A mountain bike is a must as the bridleways and Wayfarers Walk is rough in places – there are also two quite long climbs (up to Ladle Hill and one up Thorn Down).  We will probably walk up both of these and no-one should feel pressured in to riding up eiher hill!  There are fabulous views from numerous points along the route are not to be missed. Any questions, please get in touch with Andy on 07786 363366

After that, our next event is a short family walk on the 10th July along some of our footpaths. On the 11th September there will be a Scavenger Hunt and on the 29th October a Call My Bluff Wine Quiz. For further details please go to our website www.wooltonhill.com/ews_news.

At our next Committee Meeting we will be reviewing progress on the issues raised in the Parish Plan. If you feel that some of the issues identified in the plan are not being progressed quickly enough please let us know.

There is still time to volunteer to help the Society improve the footpath running between Fullers Lane and East Woodhay Village Hall by adding a further set of boards to run alongside the current single width boards. Works starts on the evenings of 29th, 30th June or 1st July and all day on Saturday 2nd July.  If you wish to help please contact John Angle on 253889.
