East Woodhay Society Newsletter for June 2012
As at the end of the first year the Society had 215 members and we are pleased to report that a significant majority have already signed up for next year. However, to save the Committee spending valuable time chasing up renewals, we would be grateful if those of you who have not yet rejoined would complete the form posted through your letter box and return it as soon as possible. If you have left the area and no longer wish to be a member would you please send an email to email@example.com.
If you are a prospective new member wishing to join please print off a copy of the form on our website www.wooltonhill.com/ews_news and send it via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. With our ever increasing membership, we would welcome some of our members volunteering to join our committee. If you would like to become more involved please send us an email.
Vote NOW for faster Broadband
An urgent request to all EWS members plus your local friends and neighbours to vote for our area to have faster broadband. As stated previously, Hampshire is planning to provide 90% of premises in Hampshire with access to 24Mb/s or faster broadband with the remainder being left in the slow lane. The roll-out is due to start in 2013 and will be based on a number of factors including the level of interest shown by members of the public. If you do not want to be left behind with substantially lower speeds you need to register your interest at www.hants.gov.uk/broadband-signup before the end of July 2012. In August the votes will be counted and used to determine the roll-out.

Wednesday 25th to Sunday 29th July – The Boxford Masques at Welford Park present “A Little Drama at the Big House”
Between 1900 and 1911 the ‘lady at the big house’ in Boxford, Charlotte Peake, wrote a play for her staff to perform, in the open, at the top of Hoar Hill. This summer’s Boxford Masque will be the fifth since this hundred year old tradition was restarted to celebrate the Millennium and is supported by The Watermill Theatre. This is a big budget affair, with the cast drawn from the Lambourn Valley with a new backdrop – the beautiful Welford Park between Boxford and Shefford. If you have never seen one of these amazing all-singing, all-dancing spectacular plays, give yourself a treat. Bring a picnic, bring a chair and most of all bring your friends.
Tickets are available from the Watermill Theatre at Theatre on 01635 46044 and www.watermill.org.uk. or any branch of the Newbury Building Society.
Picnics from 5.30, performances start at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
